A Letter from Our President Regarding COVID-19

Mary Templeton, executive director

Dear Michigan Saves partners,

Just as our mission is vital to achieving long-term health and environmental goals for all Michiganders, we are committed to ensuring your health and safety during this critical time. As the situation with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) develops, so do our steps to protect and support you, our team, loved ones, and the communities we touch.

At the guidance of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and other state and federal public health officials, we have transitioned from working in our physical office to a remote work environment, while also suspending in-person meetings and events for the immediate future.

We have taken these measures not only to support our staff’s health and that of their families, but to minimize risk to each of you and the communities we all serve. Since making the switch to this virtual interface, we have been able to successfully maintain business operations and normal business hours, and we expect that to continue. Our team remains accessible and ready to partner and serve your unique needs—on the phone and online.

Our team is at the ready to help all homeowners and commercial building customers implement energy improvements that support their well-being and minimize expenses now and into the future. Email us, call us at 517-484-6474, or visit www.MichiganSaves.org for assistance.

Note for homeowners: Until further notice, we are encouraging anyone applying for a home energy loan to apply online to avoid delays in customer service and to utilize electronic signing for loan closings.

As we previously shared with our valued network of authorized contractors, our contractor outreach team is working diligently to connect with the more than 600 contractors who are critical to our mission of making energy improvements easy and affordable for Michigan’s energy consumers.

We remain committed to partnering with and supporting our residential and commercial lending partners who, with us, are part of a unique financing solution that helps protect residents’ health and safety, provide them with energy and money savings, and reduce their energy footprints.

All Partners

We are also continuing to reach out to close partners to determine how best to proceed in the weeks ahead as many of us adapt to changes in our ways of doing business. As a nonprofit green bank, the work we do simply wouldn’t be possible without the help of all our partners who have forged strong relationships with us to accelerate demand for greater energy efficiency. This includes our board of directors; contractors; lenders; utilities; federal, state, and local agencies; and more. Together, you have enabled us to be good stewards of taxpayer dollars and to use them to leverage private investment in critical clean energy solutions.

We thank every one of you for your continued partnership during these evolving circumstances and want you to know we are here to support you in any way we can. We extend our heartfelt well wishes to you and your loved ones.
