A Letter from Our Executive Director

Mary Templeton, Michigan Saves executive director

Michigan Saves hit some great milestones in 2015. We rolled out new promotions and buydowns, we chaired the steering committee for the first-ever Governor’s Energy Excellence Awards, worked with utility and municipal partners to develop on-bill financing programs, and our loan portfolio crossed the $60 million mark—which means that over 6,000 homes, businesses, and multifamily and public sector properties were able to realize the benefits of energy-efficient upgrades.

I’m excited to share this special Year in Review issue of Smart Energy, which will showcase these accomplishments and explain how they came to be.

But before you take a look at the highlights that follow, I want to take a moment to recognize Michigan’s energy-efficiency community. Michigan’s hardworking contractors, homeowners, energy providers, public sector officials, and business owners impress me every day. The work they do quietly on their own—when added together—really adds up to make a big impact in our state, and we are honored to be a part of their success.

The added bonus to all of this is that we didn’t just help Michigan become more energy efficient in 2015. These efforts are demonstrating the power of smart energy consumption that will serve Michiganders for generations to come.

There is no doubt 2015 was a benchmark year. But we’re excited about raising the bar even higher in 2016 with your help. I hope you’ll join us.

Warm regards,
Mary Templeton
